A summary study of what the Word of God says regarding the filling or baptism with the Holy Spirit. Every person referred to in the first four verses in Acts chapter 2 was both (1) a committed believer in Jesus the Messiah and (2) a person who had been baptized in water (1:14-15). What happened to them cannot be consigned only to a conversion experience. They were filled with the Holy Spirit because (1) they obeyed Christ's directive (Acts 1:4; Luke 24:49) and (2) they placed no conditions on either what would happen or when the Lord would do what He had promised (Acts 1:5 cp. John 1:33).
